Employment Resources
Dear Malad Stake Self-Reliance Committee,
There are many in our community being impacted by layoffs or those that may be needing a better job. Under the direction of Elder Hess I've been asked to share the following resources to help support your committees as you help support your ward leaders/members.
There are many resources available at Department of Workforce Services to help job seekers. Here are just a few:
Find a Job You Love Course
Virtual Job Jairs (these are held monthly)
Here is a link to the SmartStart Guide. This is a step-by-step guide to help seekers find the right job. It includes checklists, worksheets, guides to choosing a career, preparing a resume, applying for jobs, networking, and interviewing sections.
You can find more details regarding these events and many other resources on their Job Seeker Page.
Here is the Idaho equivalent website for State employment resources - https://www.labor.idaho.gov/dnn
They have the following workshops in Pocatello during the month of March: Maximize Job Search – Resume– Practice Interview – Computer Basic. Additional events occurring in April. https://www.labor.idaho.gov/dnn/calendar
Register for an account which informs Leadership in the Ward and Stake of those seeking employment. Leaders can access this info from the Leader and Clerk Resource page.
Active Job Search groups meet virtually Mon-Fri at 8:30 am.
Finding Job Leads resources.
Virtual Job Skill Workshops held weekly:
Accelerate Your Job Search – Mondays at 1pm
Resumes – Tuesdays at 1pm
Finding Job Leads – Wednesdays at 1pm
Preparing for Interviews – Thursdays at 1pm
Webinars – 16 recorded webinars that you can view anytime. From using LinkedIn, Virtual Interviews, Changing Careers and Starting a Side Business and more.
Logan Employment Center open on Tue and Thu from 10am-3pm. Here you can receive one on one assistance from a staff member.
175 West 1400 North Ste C - 888-818-4484
Self-Reliance Services
Self-Reliance Plan Form – great tool to help document individual needs, resources and goals.
Find a better Job Self-Reliance Course
If this course is not being offered by ward or stake another option to consider is having EQ and RS assist. It might be a great opportunity for the assigned ministers to go through course material with individual(s).
Hope these resources are helpful to you along with any others that your committee uses. I'm happy to expand further on any of these resources and tools if you have any questions.
